Art from the Heart - Derwent Day!
Come and have a play with the fabulous new Derwent products available at Art from the Heart:
Inktense pencils, Inktense bars and the brand new Derwent Artbars.
Here’s what Derwent has to say about the *new* Artbars:
With a beautiful creamy consistency, these triangular bars of solid, highly pigmented colour offer the artist so much creative potential. They feel luxuriously smooth as they release consistently rich, deep pigment. The wax based bars are also completely water-soluble and dry marks almost seem to melt under your brush. Used either dry or wet, Artbar opens up a world of expressive mark making and rich opaque colour.
But what do you do with them?! Let Kate give you a few ideas. You can make backgrounds with them, paint with them and even stamp with them, and they work perfectly well alongside all your other favourite mediums. Come and have a play …try before you buy

Art from the Heart - Draw in your journal!
Draw? Who me? Yes, you! Everyone of us can draw, but somehow along the way we lose our confidence and our inner critic tells us ‘we’re no good’. Have you ever watched a child draw? They just draw, without the nagging self-doubt that engulfs us as we get older. Well let’s embrace our inner artist, and have a go at drawing in our art journals. It isn’t so hard, and as you finish a page you can sit back and think ‘I did that’!
Let Kate guide you through some simple techniques, using basic shapes to draw your own characters and features for a journal page.
Kate has been published in Somerset Art Journaling (including some hand drawn pages!), Somerset Studio, Stampers’ Sampler, Somerset Apprentice and also writes regularly for British magazines Craft Stamper and Scrap 365.

Art from the Heart - collage and painting techniques
Use the new Golden Fluid Acrylics and Golden mediums to paint a colourful multi - layered background on deli paper (waxed Kraft paper regularly used at Deli counters!). This is a wonderfully versatile material; you can fold it, stitch it, add it to your journal pages, collage it …… the list goes on. Also try painting multi- layered backgrounds on watercolour paper, and collaging regular tissue paper to make colourful backgrounds. Once you have completed a few backgrounds Kate will show you how to make miniature mounted houses, as well as a few feathered friends (inspired by Cloth, Paper, Scissors and www.annellis.co.uk) Stitching is optional!
